Film Curation - selecting for value

Making world class films available to everyone

Every year THE WHY curates a selection of 20 completed films from talented filmmakers around the world. These films are specially chosen to represent the broad range of stories and peoples our planet has to offer.

Each film is curated for our series WHY STORIES, in partnership with BBC World News. The films are then edited to 45 minutes to fit with local broadcasting specifications and translated into local languages to reach a wider audience.

We select our films on the value of the message, the importance of the subject, and whether we believe the story is being told already. Our goal is to broaden the conversation and breach the information gap by spreading awareness to as many people as possible.
